Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has been named the leader in procurement outsourcing services within the financial services industry by Everest Research Institute, part of Everest Group, a leading global consulting firm specializing in sourcing strategy and implementation. Accenture topped the list because of the company’s experience, breadth of service offerings and 95 percent market share by annualized contract value.
A total of 17 major service providers across the globe were evaluated for the report, entitled, Procurement Outsourcing in Financial Services: From Wall Street to Martin Place.” As part of the study, Everest Group reviewed multi-year contracts that involved the outsourcing of three or more activities ranging from sourcing to payment.

Procurement Business Process Outsourcing Solution

Paris — August 3, 2009 — Consulting firm Capgemini America is working with e-purchasing solution provider IBX Group AB to develop a new global procurement solution built on Capgemini’s BPOpen technology platform.
This new solution is aimed at reducing the cost of procurement for companies while also accelerating and reducing the time to ROI on the deployment of e-procurement, according to the two companies. Capgemini and IBX claim that the jointly developed solution will enable their clients to incur one-tenth the implementation costs over traditional implementation approaches in their sourcing efforts.

TPI attributes the fall mostly to the fact that business-process outsourcing - which looked ready to grow as information-technology outsourcing market began to level earlier this decade - has fallen off a cliff. TPI says BPO work has declined across regions and functions, including human resources, finance and accounting, and facilities management. The value and number of BPO contracts were at their lowest figures compared to the past five first-half periods. In fact, at $2.4 billion for Q2, total contract value is down 69% compared to the second quarter of 2008.
