How CDL Traffic Violations Affect Truckers

Amplifyd from www.adslogistics.com

truck getting pulled overHow can a city generate income when low on funds…target commercial truck drivers of course! Everyone knows that traffic tickets, whether written for commercial drivers or regular drivers generate income for the county the ticket is written in. Commercial drivers, in particular, are the easiest to write multiple tickets on for various reasons. Here are just some of the reasons that truck drivers can get pulled over and fined:

If a CDL holder is convicted of a “law related to motor vehicle traffic control” other than parking violations, including violations that occur outside of work when driving a personal vehicle, you must notify your employer! Additionally, you must report a loss of driving privileges or suspension of CDL to your employer by the end of the next business day. It is important that you drive safely and professionally as your CDL is literally your meal ticket.  You should fight every erroneous violation and keep your record (MVR & CSA 2010) free of negative Safety Rating statistics which follow a driver from company to company.

Ford to analyze its supply chain carbon footprint

Amplifyd from www.mnn.com
Now Ford has a good grasp of its own internal carbon footprint, it is turning to its supply chain.
Ford is joining the ranks of companies that are beginning to examine the carbon footprint of their supply chain. Today, the automaker announced that it would begin a survey of 35 of its top suppliers to obtain a better idea of the energy use and greenhouse gas emissions of its supply chain. The 35 suppliers that Ford has chosen for this project account for 30 percent of the company’s annual purchasing dollars.
“The two organizations are leading a global collaboration of businesses, governments and non-governmental organizations to develop credible methods for measuring and reporting corporate greenhouse gas emissions. They are currently drafting a new standard to be used to measure indirect or Scope 3 emissions. In tandem, Ford is participating in the Carbon Disclosure Project Supply Chain Program. Ford is the only automaker participating in both initiatives.” Source: Ford

New research has revealed the key ingredients to a successful supply chain

Amplifyd from www.wtgexpert.com

New research from Cranfield School of Management and Solving Efeso has revealed the key ingredients to developing and implementing supply chain strategies successfully. The survey of over 180 senior global supply chain professionals analysed the strategic development and implementation process in some of the world’s leading organizations.

The research found that the supply chain function is now widely recognized as an important part of the business with around two-thirds having senior supply chain representation in the boardroom. Alignment with corporate strategy and customer service were identified as the leading functional drivers of supply chain strategy. The most important supply chain performance drivers were found to be cost focus, customer lead-time and customer quality.

Professor Richard Wilding from Cranfield’s Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management said: “It is clear that in some organisations, supply chain management is still perceived as a means of reducing cost; not as a means of achieving competitive advantage. Supply chain strategies should not be developed by individuals in isolation. Other departments such as Marketing, IT and Finance need to be held accountable, rather than just consulted, in the development and delivery of a firm’s supply chain strategy.”
